BULLET*
Bullet is a 10 year old elkhound who came
into rescue with his 8 year old half brother
Thorn when their owner died. Though he
was a few pounds overweight, he is now sleek
and fit and would love to come home with
you! This sturdy handsome fellow acts young
for his age. We feel he would be
better as an only dog, as he did like to
boss his brother around. He loves being
groomed, taking car rides, and having
visitors. He is familiar with basic
commands, and is a bit possessive about his

SAYDE MAE
Sayde Mae
is a sweet 5 year old girl. Unlike
many ladies, she does not enjoy being
groomed but would be fine in a home with
cats, and preferably with a person who is
experienced with the independent nature of
this breed. She was quick to
alert her former owners to all the goings-on
in her neighborhood and might do best in a
calm environment. If your home

THORN*
Thorn
(aka “Meatloaf”) is a big 8 year old boy.
This tall fellow (who may be part husky, though
he looks just like a big elkhound) is on a
weight reduction program to get him back
into shape -need a walking companion? Thorn
may just be the guy for you! He gets along
well with cats, dogs and people and knows
his basic commands. He loves to play tug of
war and go for car rides. He will bark at
people he doesn’t know and would be a good
watch dog…please

ULRICH*
Ulrich is about 6 years old,
neutered, and loves to be outdoors. He walks well on a lead but
prefers to act as a watchdog in alerting you
to who is walking by his fenced yard. He
gets along well with other dogs and
would prefer to be in a
multiple dog household.
He came to rescue after his owner
passed away. He had not been
housebroken for a few years as his owner was
elderly/handicapped and allowed the dogs to
use the basement for a potty place.
However, he is clean and will learn where
you want him to "go" quickly. He is good in a kennel
setting but would love to have adoring
owners and a canine companion once again. If you would like to

YOGI
Yogi a five and a half year
old neutered male who is a really loving
dog. He loves people who are about 5 yrs
and older but is a bit skittish around
younger children. He loves to be with you
at all times and even loves to be brushed.
He loves to chew on bones, knows sit and lay
down on command, and loves to go for walks.
He does very well on walks in public
places. He tolerates small dogs, because he
had been around them all his life. He has
been raised with a Maltese and has had small
breed dogs that come for visits. He is
more aggressive around dogs of his size. He
is not good with cats. If you think Yogi is

BEAR - PENDING
Bear is a beautiful two and a
half year old male elkhound, neutered and up
to date with his shots and on heartworm
preventative. He gets along well with
other dogs and with children and is said to
be tolerant of cats. Bear's owners had
a baby a year ago and Bear is great with the
child. However, the child is
quite allergic to Bear so the family is
reluctantly looking for a new home for their
fuzzy boy. He's a wonderful
house pet and needs an equally wonderful
home where no one is allergic to him.

BISMARK - ADOPTED
PONCHO
Poncho is a
one year old, neutered male who was a stray.
He's a sweet dog lots of play energy who
also loves to run in a fenced yard and alert
to activity. In his foster home, he
has cohabitated with two other dogs who play
very roughly. Poncho needs an
owner who understands his particular drive
to meet other dogs and that he tends to try
and act
the alpha role. He may do best as an
only dog or with a quieter type of dog
as a companion for him. He is not
recommended for a home with cats because he
will enjoy chasing them. He would love to be YOUR special dog.

URGENT: ANOTHER HOME IS
NEEDED FOR SMOKEY!
Smokey's very kind foster mom
has continued to love and care for Smokey
with all her heart but she and her family
have to give her up. Smokey is very happy in
this home but the family's cats are not. The
cats are afraid of Smokey and won't come
downstairs where they loved to roam before
Smokey arrived. It is not fair for the cats
to live this way. The situation hasn't
gotten any better as time goes by.
Poor Smokey- She really is a great companion
dog. She is an 11 yr old going on 7, a
shepherd/keeshond (or maybe an elkhound?)
who is spayed, housebroken, and current on
shots. She loves to play and is gentle
and kind. She deserves to live out her
golden years without cats but with a family
who has given her as much love as her
present foster family has. .

Annabelle
is a 4 year old spayed Norwegian
Elkhound/Shepherd mix. She is up to
date on all vaccines and needs to find a new
home because her owner needs to cut back
financially. She is located in
Huntington, WV and would be best as an only
dog. She is a fence jumper so new owner
needs a 6' fence.
